A quick weekend escape to the capital to spend some time with my Taiwanese sister S. since she is there to study.
Bopiliao Historic Block
Lane 173, Kangding Road, Wanhua District, Taipei City, 108
In 2009, Taipei City government finished the repairing process of Bopiliao Historic Block, and opened it up to the public. It showcases local culture and history to the visitors, and the buildings still serve practical purpose as to hold art exhibitions.
There is not a whole lot to see yet in the building but the photo opportunities are really worth it!
Black & White Series
Huashan 1914
This was the first rice wine distillery built in 1920.
No. 1, Sec. 1, Bade Rd., Zhongzheng Dist., Taipei City(Intersection of Zhongxiao E. Road and Bade Road, beside Guanghua Digital New Plaza)
This place is amazing if like me you like old buildings and repurposed areas in cities for local artists, local shops, local food and independent movie theatre!
Going around the cities on a GoShare Gogoro Scooter
If you have not been to Taiwan then you probably do not know what or who Gogoro is. It is an electrical scooter manufacturer in Taiwan that sells very cheap scooters then sells a monthly subscription to users to be able to swap their batteries when they run out at all gas stations. And now they even have a ride share service so just like we rent the Lime or Jump scooters in the US you can rent a scooter here (that is if you are Taiwanese... you need a local license to register with the service).
CIAO CIAO SCONE 悄悄好食
No. 4, Lane 11, Section 1, Hangzhou South Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, 100
Omg this scone place by the way was phenomenal!!! My little Taiwanese sis S. found it by walking around one day and it's the best, fluffiest, lightest scone I have ever had!!! It is worth waiting in line for!
After a fun full day in Taipei, time to head to the hotel to relax! I decided to spend the night in Taipei to spend another fun day in Sunday by myself to explore the city since S. was busy with GMAT classes and studying. So she suggested I book this hotel where she was going to stay the following night with her girlfriend for a conference. This hotel is massive and has 20 floors. I think I paid less than $100 for the night and they gave me a room on the last floor which as my pictures will show is so worth it and breathtaking!

Sunday brunch
You can't start the day without a good breakfast right?? I did a little bit of online research based on where I wanted to spend the rest of the afternoon and found this amazing little café not far from Taipei 101. I love finding those small little places where you would never guess! The people and the food was amazing, I had a great latte, a granola bowl with fresh fruits and I could not resist their cinnamon bun which I am glad I splurged on!!
TAMED FOX
No. 56, Lane 122, Section 4, Ren'ai Road, Da’an District, Taipei City, 106
I spent the rest of the afternoon floundering inside and outside of Taipei 101, amazed by the crowds of people everywhere I went, which in normal time would not surprise me but in the middle of the worst global pandemic it was to me surreal!
And off course some of my favorite stores in Taiwan apart from Stationary ones, are those full of fun cartoons and anime figures!!!
