(大內龍貓公車站 / da nei long mao gong che zhan)
If you love Totoro or murals, this is a fun itinerary stop, especially if just to take fun photos with the characters.
My Neighbor Totoro (Japanese: となりのトトロ, Hepburn: Tonari no Totoro) is a 1988 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and animated by Studio Ghibli for Tokuma Shoten. I have actually not seen the movie even though I know of the characters, maybe I should!!
It takes maybe 30min to go through all the murals and they are spread out over a couple of blocks only. And when you look online for things to do in Tainan off course Totoro Station appears with different version of the pictures I took but what they do not show is the strange neighborhood those murals are in. Most of the houses are abandoned with walls falling apart, some locals are there and live in very simple conditions. I cannot seem to find information online on how this neighborhood came alive and why there.
On the way back from our Sun Moon Lake 2 days adventure we stopped at the Danei Totoro Station to take some pictures. I love murals so it was fun to me to walk around and capture all those artworks.
Other characters are also painted around this almost abandoned neighborhood from the Minions to Mr. Bean.
