Natural Bridge State Park over Memorial Day

annesophie26

Natural Bridge is a geological formation in Rockbridge County, Virginia, comprising a 215-foot-high natural arch with a span of 90 feet. It is situated within a gorge carved from the surrounding mountainous limestone terrain by Cedar Creek, a small tributary of the James River.

Over Memorial Day we decided that we had to take a little trip and get out of Raleigh. Not being able to travel where we want and anytime we want has been challenging. I know this is obviously not the worse that could happen but mentally it has been difficult for everyone. So both us decided to keep our cabin trip to Virginia with my boyfriend's family. We chose a big house in the mountains of Virginia, isolated from most people and hopefully bears! We had packed enough food and kitchen tools for maybe 2 weeks so we would not have to go anywhere for our meals.

We did plan a couple of trips to get us out in nature, a trip to Natural Bridge State Park and a trip to a safari which you can see in my next post.

I do enjoy taking pictures of nature, animals and landscape more than anything. And the key in my opinion for amazing pictures is to always look around you, above you and beneath you; take your time observing nature and you will be surprised what you will be able to spot!

Watch out for the snakes on the trails! I am scared of most insects and little creatures so if you are asking how i get so close, i have a huge lens!

For this weekend, I had decided to rent a big telephoto lens. Having photography as a hobby can get expensive, especially if you want to try to take close ups from far away. Lenses can go from $600 to $4,000 USD. I have not won the lottery yet so I found a great compromise to play with lenses without breaking the bank: renting lenses. I have been using Lens Rental and I have been very satisfied with their inventory, prices and service. https://www.lensrentals.com

The lens I rented for this trip was a Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II. I am not a pro and definitely not knowledgeable enough to give a review. It actually took me a while to decide which one to rent amongst all the telephoto lens. Honestly being able to rent the lenses is the best to try them before or if you want to make the investment. This lens was great and easy enough for me to use, but I am not going to lie, those telephoto lens are heavy. I am glad I had been working out!!
