Last September I swore I would not go through another quarantine period ever; and here I am! Back in Taiwan quarantining in Taipei this time.
Unfortunately I couldn't wait for Covid-19 to slow down or go away before making another business trip to Taiwan. After all, my main and only partner is in Taiwan so going over to discuss strategies and projects is crucial.
However this time I decided I would stay in Taipei at a Western type hotel where we would have an "a la carte" menu since the last time the most difficult was the food. So I booked the Aloft Taipei Beitou Hotel
The view is beautiful, we are facing the National Park and the mountains so waking up every day with this view is so relaxing. If only I could open the window but I guess on the 12th floor they probably don't want you to be able to. Why didn't they build balconies at least, with a view like this, sitting outside with a cocktail would be so nice...
Anyway, while entering a few "quarantine special items" were waiting for me:
Instructions for the stay
The menu for the a la carte option
A thermometer to take and record my temperature every day
A little blue box with chopstix, spoon and fork
Gel spray and dishwasher soap
Trash bags
And a little jar of pineapple jam
So I checked in the hotel on Sunday March 7th at 9am. The taxi dropped me off in the garage where the service elevator is. You could easily feel offended if you didn't know that this is how Taiwan is one of the only countries in the world almost out of the pandemic. But this time they stepped up their game! We didn't have live people checking me in but an iPad!
Freedom will be on March 22nd... Let the countdown begin!
